Benjamin Roth is the Chief Executive Officer of ZG Advisors, a Melbourne-based financial advisory firm specialising in fixed income strategies, wealth management, and institutional portfolio solutions. With more than two decades of experience spanning Wall Street and the Australian financial markets, Benjamin brings a rare combination of deep technical expertise, disciplined risk management, and a client-first philosophy that has helped shape ZG Advisors into one of the most respected independent advisory firms in the region.
Born and raised in Queens, New York, Benjamin developed an early interest in markets while watching the financial district from across the East River. He completed his secondary education at Francis Lewis High School before earning a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Baruch College, City University of New York. He later obtained a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Capital Markets from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Benjamin began his career in New York in the late 1990s, joining the fixed income desk at Meridian Securities, a mid-sized investment bank focused on corporate debt and structured products. Over the following years he held progressively senior roles at two further New York institutions: first as a Vice President in Credit Research at Hudson Valley Capital Partners, and later as Director of Fixed Income Strategy at Apex Ridge Asset Management, where he managed multi-strategy credit portfolios for institutional clients. His work during this period covered investment-grade and high-yield corporate bonds, municipal securities, and structured credit, giving him a comprehensive foundation in both primary and secondary fixed income markets.
In 2013, seeking a new chapter for his family, Benjamin relocated to Sydney, Australia. He quickly established himself in the local market, first joining Coral Coast Financial as a Senior Fixed Income Analyst, where he advised high-net-worth and family office clients on Australian and global bond strategies. Two years later he moved to Harbourbridge Capital as Portfolio Manager, Fixed Income, overseeing a growing book of institutional and private wealth mandates with a focus on capital preservation and yield enhancement in a low-rate environment.
In 2016, Benjamin was approached by the founding partners of ZG Advisors and invited to join the firm in Melbourne as Fixed Income Advisor. Recognising both the firm’s culture and its long-term vision, he accepted the role and relocated once more. Over the next six years he played a central part in expanding the firm’s fixed income capability, building institutional relationships, and developing proprietary research frameworks. His consistent performance, leadership of the advisory team, and contribution to firm strategy led to successive promotions, culminating in his appointment as Chief Executive Officer in 2022.
As CEO, Benjamin is responsible for the overall strategic direction of ZG Advisors, client outcomes, and the continued development of the firm’s people and capabilities. He remains closely involved in key client relationships and continues to contribute to the firm’s fixed income research and portfolio construction process. Under his leadership, ZG Advisors has strengthened its position as a trusted independent adviser to private clients, family offices, and selected institutional investors across Australia.
Benjamin lives in Melbourne with his family and remains actively engaged in the broader financial community through industry forums and mentoring younger professionals entering the fixed income field.
